PCEA National Convention Update

Due to the rapidly increasing concerns regarding COVID-19, PCEA Nationalhas made the unfortunate decision to cancel this year's National Convention.

Letter from our National President

"It is with great regret that the Professional Construction Estimators Association must announce the cancelation of the 2020 Convention in Asheville, North Carolina in April.  As you are all aware, the current Coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak which was not a thought a few weeks ago has now become a force counterproductive to everything that we work for.  With the daily uptick in reported cases and fatalities, along with increasing restrictions from Federal, State, and Local governments as to meetings, events, and travel, our PCEA Board of Directors was tasked with determining the best way to proceed for the coming months.  Given limited dates available for postponing Convention until later in 2020 and the uncertainty as to when it might be safe (and legal) to gather in groups of more than 10, there were really no viable options.  A vote was taken from the Board and a large majority concurred that the best possible option was to cancel for 2020 and regroup for 2021.

There will be some involvement for the membership with some necessary business meeting duties that normally are done within the scope of the convention, and the we will keep you updated on the when and how of that.  Additionally, we will be rescheduling the 2021 Convention for Asheville, and can formally announce to the entire membership that the 2022 Convention will be held in Greenville, South Carolina.  PCEA appreciates your understanding in this matter, and we hope the COVID-19 virus bypasses your homes, families, and workplaces.  Hopefully this nasty virus will turn out to have a short shelf-life, and life will return to normal activities sooner than expected.  Thanks again for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you soon."

- Jim Cormany, 2019-2020 National President

Updates regarding the convention business, duties, and awards, as well as revised planning for 2021's Convention in Asheville will be released as determined.

Don Howard named the 2018-2019 National Estimator of the Year

Perhaps the most coveted award given by PCEA is the Rudolph John Barnes National Estimator of the Year Award.  This award is given annually to a person that has gone above and beyond on the National Level to contribute to the success of PCEA.

This year’s recipient is Don Howard.

Don joined the PCEA as a member of the Coastal Plains Chapter in June of 1990. At the chapter level, Don served on  the Board of Directors as First Vice President, National Director, and President.  He has also been active on the National level, serving on their Board of Directors as Vice President and within the Executive Committee. Don is also active within his community, having served on The Southern Flue Cured Tobacco Festival Board, Covenant Church Trustee, Pitt County Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Classic Committee, Cub Scout Pack 340 Pack Master, and Boy Scout Troop 340 Assistant Scoutmaster.

Mr. Howard, the PCEA thanks you for everything you have contributed to our association and the industry as a whole.
